Parents post desperate appeals for the missing after 127 die in series of cowardly ISIS bomb and gun attacks across Paris in what French President describes as an 'act of war'

At least 127 people have been killed and more than 300 taken to hospital after eight

militants carried out a series of co-ordinated attacks across the French capital that has placed the country in a state of nationwide emergency. As chaos, confusion and fear gripped the city, relatives around the world have been taking to social media in the hope of finding news of the missing (some of whom are pictured, left), while mourners wept as they held vigils for the dead (right). Many of the victims were among 1,000 fans watching a heavy metal gig at the Bataclan concert hall when four suicide bombers opened fire, killing up to 80 people and taking hostages before blowing themselves up. French President Francois Hollande has vowed to strike back 'mercilessly' after ISIS claimed responsibility for the atrocities in revenge for air strikes in Iraq and Syria.
